What must we tell a person who has turned to the Lord? We must rejoice together in the salvation he has received and lead him with the word, yet at times we demand that he first meet our standards and so trouble his heart. What James said in Jerusalem shows on what basis the church must treat souls in the face of such a problem. If we know that God has called His own people, we cannot set up another threshold of salvation before them.
