The word records the following about Apollos: “Now a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man and mighty in the Scriptures, came to Ephesus. This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things of the Lord, though he knew only the baptism of John” (Acts 18:24–25). A man named Apollos taught the Scriptures in the synagogue, and through the Scriptures he taught people that they should believe in God well. But among the audience were people called Priscilla and Aquila, who had heard the gospel from the Apostle Paul and had received salvation. They heard him, took Apollos aside, and explained the gospel of the water and the Spirit to him in great detail by citing the Old and New Testaments. So Apollos’s faith became complete, and because of this, he became a servant who was used powerfully in the Church of God. The word records that part.
