In Ephesus, the people who called on the name of Jesus differed from one another. Paul taught people the word of the Lord, but some people tried to display power by borrowing the name of the Jesus whom Paul preached. Speaking the same name did not mean that they had the same faith. Therefore, when we read this word, along with the fact that astonishing things happened, we must examine what kind of One we know Jesus to be and rely on Him as. For believing in the Savior who remitted sins and trying to use His name for one’s own purposes are different paths from the very beginning.
