Preparing for the journey and arranging a house to stay in seem ordinary compared with the prophecy of Paul’s being bound that they had heard earlier. But for Paul to reach Jerusalem, such preparation and companionship were actually needed. We value conspicuous sermons and bold answers, yet we easily overlook the people who bear those things together and their labor. In today’s two verses, instead of a long speech, what is recorded is the party who prepared for the road and the early disciple Mnason. Let us examine in this short scene where, concretely, the life of serving together the salvation received from the Lord lies.
