Ch24_03_Sermon_What does the heart that hears the gospel seek？ (Acts 24:24–27)

Felix, together with his wife Drusilla, sent for Paul and heard about the way of believing in Jesus Christ. Now the governor and his wife came to hear the word of faith from the mouth of Paul, who was on trial. But the fact of having heard the word and the fact of having believed that word in one’s heart are not the same. Because we have heard sermons many times and grown familiar with them, we easily think that we believe rightly. This short scene makes us look back at what our hearts, as we listen, are truly seeking. We must examine whether we accept the remission of sins Jesus has given, or whether we try to gain something else even while hearing the word.
