The brethren in Antioch gathered together, read the letter, and rejoiced. When we think of the words that had troubled them before, we can see how precious this joy is. There had been a demand that circumcision must be added in order to receive salvation, but now the word had been conveyed that this burden would not be laid on them. The comfort the church needs must not stop at words that make people forget their worries for a moment; it must be the word that sets their hearts up again on the grace of Jesus.
