In Paul’s proposal to go back to the places where they had preached the gospel of the water and the Spirit, we see concern for souls. Though he had preached the word and left, he wanted to see how those people were doing. Yet in the course of preparing for this visit, Paul and Barnabas contended sharply and parted. In this passage, where the intention to look after the church and the difficulty that arose between co-workers are recorded together, we must examine why faith that relies on the grace of the Lord is needed rather than a heart that relies on people.
