When Paul left Troas, he sent his companions ahead on the ship and went to Assos on foot himself. After that, he boarded the ship, passed by various places, and arrived at Miletus. This sea route, recorded only briefly, lies within Paul’s journey toward Jerusalem. As we read about that road, we must examine for what Paul spent his time and moved together with people. For a worker of the gospel of the water and the Spirit, there is not only the word to preach, but also the days of actually living while serving that word. We, too, must lay our daily plans and steps before the Lord.
