When the escort that had set out by night reached Caesarea, what was Paul believing? He was not released and set free right away. The governor said that he would hear Paul when those who accused him came, and he commanded that Paul be kept in Herod’s Praetorium; so a man who had escaped the plan to kill him was placed once again in the position of having to wait. We, who hope that everything will soon be over once a crisis has passed, find that our hearts that rely on the Lord are also tested when the waiting continues. Yet even in his circumstances of being moved from one city to another, the salvation Paul believed in and the word of the Lord did not change. That Jesus had all the sins of the world, including the sins of our entire lifetime, transferred to Him once and for all through the baptism He received from John, paid the price of those sins by shedding His blood on the Cross, and rose again from death was a salvation already accomplished, wherever Paul was. Following this short record, we must see that faith.
