The farewell at Miletus is recorded as a scene of people weeping loudly. Because of the word that they would not see Paul again, the elders sorrowed all the more, and they accompanied him to the ship. These people had heard the word Paul preached, yet they also felt the sorrow of parting. Having faith does not erase the love and longing we feel toward those we have been with. What we should see in this scene is not only how great the tears were, but to whom all the people went together before they parted.
