The reason the ship stayed at Tyre was to unload its cargo, but Paul’s party sought out the disciples there who believed together with them. Verse 3 records that they “landed at Tyre; for there the ship was to unload her cargo” (Acts 21:3). While the ship that was unloading its cargo was at Tyre, the party spent seven days with the disciples, and on the day they left, the disciples saw them off all the way outside the city gate. Seeking out and meeting those who believed together with them, even in a place where they stayed only for a short while, led to the prayer on the shore. The brothers who saw them off did not board the same ship as Paul; then why would they kneel down and pray together at the end of the road where they were parting from one another?
