Paul’s bonds were loosed, but the accusation against him had not yet ended. The commander, in order to find out why the people were accusing Paul, assembled the priests and all the council and set Paul before them. Although the fact that he was a Roman citizen came to light and he avoided scourging, Paul still came to stand as a person opposed because of his faith. As we read of this scene, rather than fixing our eyes only on the loosing of his bonds, we must see whom Paul, standing before people, believes in and what he testifies of.
